車夫張大膽（洪金寶 飾）自稱膽識過人，神鬼不怕，經(jīng)常與別人打賭練膽。某天他提前收工，發(fā)現(xiàn)老婆（梁雪薇 飾）與別人私通，而對方竟是大膽的雇主譚老板（黃蝦 飾）。譚老板為掩蓋真相，派師爺（太保 飾）尋茅山道士錢真人（陳龍 飾）設(shè)壇殺害大膽。
錢真人設(shè)下圈套，借打賭之名將張大膽誘至馬家祠堂，施法喚出僵尸追殺大膽。錢之師弟許真人（鐘發(fā) 飾）不滿師兄圖財(cái)害命、傷天害理惡舉。他暗中協(xié)助大膽，使之最終逃過此劫。然而譚老板禍心不死，一計(jì)不成，再施一計(jì)，非置大膽于死地不可……
